FORMAL AND INFORMAL VALUE CHAINS (VCs) IN THE DAIRY AND FRESH FOOD SECTOR: THE CASE FOR KENYA
Task:
Assessment of VCs for dairy and Tomato and their production input structure, identification of intensification processes, their drivers as well as their social and environmental externalities (external effects) along the VCs, description of impact of externalities especially on social and environmental sustainability, water use efficiency, land use changes and product quality.
Practical training of problem based learning (PBL) methods, teamwork, scientific research methods. Dairy VCs is being handled by four groups of students each group comprising 4 members; the Tomato (fresh food) VCs is being handled by one group of 3 students.
Participants:
Students from different BSc programmes at EGU, one from the Department of Animal Sciences and the other from the Horticulture Department, have undertaken the responsibility of investigating and presenting project outcomes.
